EDISON HOME PHONOGRAPH

99% of all Edison Phonographs were constructed from oak. Most people had oak furnishings in their homes. However, mahogany was used in the homes of the wealthy, and so Edison offered mahogany wood as an option. The extra expense of this option was not a problem for the wealthy, but for average folks, it was not affordable. Consequently, very few mahogany Phonographs were sold. We can not sufficiently stress the rarity of this instrument.

Even RARER is a mahogany machine with a beautiful gold banner on the front! The original, century-old banner is especially vivid against the rich luster of the mahogany wood. The celluloid dealer's tag is from a store in Toronto, Canada.

The mechanical works are clean and the gold decoration crisp. We have thoroughly cleaned and adjusted the motor, and rebuilt the genuine sapphire reproducer to play loud and clear.

This machine is particularly fine, with original finish, and original rich, mahogany stain not faded by time. Since it is a special "collector" machine, and is commensurately priced, we ask you to e-mail phonotim@gmail.com or to telephone 585 244 5546 if you are interested in this instrument.
This machine plays 2-minute cylinders, and includes one record and a 14" replica horn, plus shipping and handling. (NY State residents must pay sales tax, if applicable.)
