EDISON STANDARD PHONOGRAPH
This instrument has been completely restored. The original Edison Cygnet (swan's neck) horn has been professionally repainted with scrupulous regard for originality. We have carefully cleaned and adjusted this machine to produce optimum results -- even the least "mechanically inclined" person can operate it with ease!
Edison made the Model E "4-minute only" -- by which we mean to say it was intended to play exclusively the new Edison "Amberol" and "Blue Amberol" 4-minute (long) cylinder records. To this end, this E was equipped with a Model N reproducer, capable of playing any Amberol or other 4-minute record. The Model E can be found with two types of reproducer carriage -- unique to the E was the "large diameter reproducer carriage" arranged in the frontal position, to accommodate the Model N reproducer. The increased diameter of the Model N diaphragm accounted to greater volume.
Note how precisely and artistically the mechanical works have been restored, with strict regard for historical accuracy. The gear cover (top) has its original paint and gilt lines, the bedplate below has been repainted, yet matches perfectly.
The lid may be placed over the works, to protect them from dust, while continuing to display the elegant horn.
